Yoshi: **enters room** Hey, Fenchurch – I have
something for you –
Yoshi: I found this, and thought you might get a
kick out of it --
Fenchurch: Oh,
hi, Yoshi. Sure, I like books – what is it?
Yoshi: Remember when we were talking about Beowulf? This is the entire story. I know your textbook
only had a part of it –
Fenchurch: Wow
– that’s a pretty nice edition. Too bad we’re past that period in class. But
I’m always looking for something to read -- thanks for thinking of me.
Yoshi: Speaking of thinking of you, how about going
to a movie sometime – like this weekend? The Beowulf movie tanked a long time ago of course,
but there’s other better things to see –
Fenchurch: It’s
been a while since I’ve been to the theatres. Sounds like fun; I’ll ask Win and
Chance and Kenzo if they want to go, too –
Yoshi: No, Fenchurch, I was asking only YOU to go –
I thought we could get to know each other better without all the others around.
A date, really.
Fenchurch:
Whoa there, Yoshi – I don’t think so!
Fenchurch: I
have a boyfriend, and even though he doesn’t live here, doesn’t
mean I date other people. That’s the way I am.
Yoshi: Yeah, but – don’t you get bored – and maybe
a little curious about other guys? It’s not like you’re engaged or anything
serious, is it?
Fenchurch: No
– heck, we’re TOO young for that! But I just don’t do that kind of thing; I
wouldn’t feel right, and I don’t think he would, either. We trust each other,
and I won’t abuse it.
Yoshi: How do you know HE really feels that way,
when you’re not even in the same town? Guys say they’ll be faithful, but
there’s a lot of temptation out there. Why should you have to toe the line,
when you could be having some fun, too?
Fenchurch: I know, that’s all,
and that’s good enough for me.
Yoshi: How can you be sure? I mean, you could be
missing out on finding a guy who’s even better than your boyfriend. Maybe he’s
closer than you think –
Fenchurch: And
maybe he’s not. Just because you’re standing next to each other doesn’t mean
you’re RIGHT for each other. I like my boyfriend, whether he’s on Mars, or
across the room. I don’t want to change, and I don’t need to change. Like I
said before, that’s the way I am.
Yoshi: I – I really like you, Fenchurch. Give me a
chance – please –
Fenchurch: NO,
Yoshi. I’m happy just as I am. There’s
lots of other girls out there that’d be glad for your attention, so please save
your energy for them. I’ve got to go now – goodbye. **exits**
Yoshi: ******…
**clap – clap -- clap**
Romy: Bravo!
That
brought a tear to my eye, it really did!
Yoshi: What the hell – Romy!
